HORN BETS - Many players like to bet the 2, 3, 12, 11 and that bet is referred to as the HORN bet. A HORN bet is usually bet in increments of 4 or 1 or 5, etc. As with the other Proposition Bets, you give your chips to the stick man and he will place the bet for you. Now if you bet $4 on a HORN, it means you have $1 on the 2, 3, 12 and 11. If a 12 comes up you win $30 and lose 4 so you have won $26. If the 2 comes up you win $30 and lose $4 the same as the 12. If the 3 were to come up, you win $15 and lose 4 so you get paid $11 and the same on the 11; you win $15 and lose $4 so the pay-off is $11. In most cases, a HORN bet is bet in four unit increments but the house will also let you bet in five unit increments. You can play a $5 HORN and they will give you an equal pay-off because the house has a way of figuring the fraction. If you bet a $5 HORN the house will take excellent care of you.
If a player in any Crap game is ever in doubt as to what the pay-off may be, the chances are so rare that the house will make a mistake that they can be considered nonexistent and the dealers would never cheat a player. It doesnÆt happen today with million dollar licenses at stake as well as multi-million dollar hotels. The management would not take a chance cheating a player for your $15 bet. ThatÆs why a lot of players will bet the proposition bet not knowing exactly what the pay-off is. Las Vegas has made an entire industry on the faith that you will get paid when you win.
